I AM (NOT A GOOD) BEAUTY BLOGGER

Post saya sebelumnya tampak menimbulkan huru hara...

Terimakasih untuk semua yang sudah komen, saya hargai. Good, bad doesn't matter. All of you made that effort to visit my blog, and noted that i took all of them seriously :)

Dengan ini saya meminta maaf yang sebesar-besarnya kepada semua pihak. Jika diizinkan saya ingin mengklarifikasi beberapa hal.

1. Poin 1- 8 adalah artikel yang saya terjemahkan dengan bahasa saya sendiri. Bukan asli buah pemikiran saya, sudah ada link yang tertera di atas point 1.
2. Saya mendapat banyak sekali komentar, yang jujur saya makin bertambah wawasannya.
3. Post saya sebelumnya bukan mengatas namakan staff IBB, personal sifatnya.

Saya harap ketiga hal itu bisa mengklarifikasi untuk saat ini, kenapa saya kesannya baru nongol sekarang. Well it's all part of a strategy, Blogger Sell Out hanya lapisan luar dari yang akan saya bahas di Gathering Akbar 2 IBB.

Untuk kalian yang gak bisa datang ke Gathering, berikut saya rangkum ya apa yang akan saya bicarakan.

Sell out blogger, fenomena itu terjadi dimana-mana dan karena Indonesia cenderung baru maka istilah itu pun belum awam, sehingga menimbulkan banyak reaksi. Seperti yang saya stated di blog post saya juga, WHO AM I TO JUDGE? Saya hanya ingin mendiskusikan poin 1-8 isi artikel tersebut.

Setelah itu lalu apa?

Lalu saya ingin membahas, apa sih tujuan pertama kamu ngblog? Salah satunya pasti nambah temen dan wawasan kan? Begitupun yang saya perhatikan di Indonesia, nah untuk itu apa saja sih yang diperlukan?

Selanjutnya mari kita bahas fenomena blogging di Indonesia, saya akan fokus kepada beauty blogging only karena saya have no idea tentang fashion blogger, dll.

Insight yang saya dapatkan, adalah
1. Dari sisi blogger, semua ingin berlomba menambah sesuatu, entah itu temen, wawasan, atau bahkan relasi. Relasi? Company, Media dll dan sesama blogger termasuk relasi loh. Dan apa ada yang salah? Tentu tidak.. Tetapi ada yang kaget, dan ada yang keteteran seperti saya. YES i admit, saya jarang sekali ngblog karena saya simply gak bisa bagi waktu.
2. Dari segi company, blogger yang jam terbangnya sudah tinggi (buat saya gak ada istilah senior junior hanya jam terbang, siapa yang lebih dulu ngblog, gak berarti blogger yang baru ngblog page viewnya lebih sedikit, banyak blogger-blogger yang mulainya baru tahun ini malah lebih dicari dibanding yang sudah lama ngblog) biasanya page view diatas 1000 perhari. IT means? PUBLICITY FOR COMPANY. It's a win win solution. Kalau ujung-ujungnya membuahkan duit, kenapa gak?

Saya terkesan harsh/ kasar menterjemahkan point-point di blog post saya sebelumnya, karena simply saya menulis seperti saya ngomong - nyablak- dan saya sepenuhnya sadar, hey... tidak semua bisa kamu bawa ke pikiran kamu sendiri. Ada orang yang sifatnya lemah lembut gak jantan seperti saya kalau ngomong wkwkwk...
LESSON LEARNED, GIRLS :) *perhatikan cara menulis saya sekarang, susah payah ini gak pake bok, chyin, eym, menurut ngana, dkk* >.<

Dan yang ingin saya tekankan adalah, BLOGGING gak ada sekolahnya gak ada standar-nya. Yang ada hanya semacam tips dan peraturan tidak tertulis. Apa aja? Ya itu seperti yang di blog post saya sebelumnya. Kamu mau ng-post foundation yang baru kamu beli kemaren? Ya post saja, tapi judulnya jangan review. Review itu biasanya setelah beberapa kali pemakaian. Kalau baru beli mau share ke readers, itu namanya " First Impression". Dan saya juga baru belajar kok hal itu setelah ketemu temen-temen blogger yang udah lebih dulu ngblog dari saya.

Yang lain, teknologi sekalu berevolusi. Apa yang lagi heboh sekarang 3 bulan lagi belum tentu valid. Makanya jangan berhenti baca, belajar, dan tetep KEPO. Dulu 10 tahun lalu mana ada lip tint yang bisa buat pipi ama bibir? Mascara yang bisa nebelin, sampe vibrate. Nah hal-hal itu yang harus tetep dikepoin.

NOW, to the very point! WHY WE ALL SHOULD DITCH PERFECTION?

OK, now on to WHY I AM NOT A GOOD BEAUTY BLOGGER

Terimakasih sekali lagi buat semua masukannya di post sebelumnya.
Tahun 2012 akan berakhir, saatnya juga saya evaluasi diri setelah sebelumnya evaluasi semua make up saya hehehe...

1. Benar, saya bukan tipe orang yang bisa bagi waktu. Saya lebih mengutamakan pekerjaan saya, dan tentu saja IBB selama ini. Saya tidak bisa ngepost sering-sering karena saya merasa gak sreg, ama isi calon postingan. Dan terlalu sibuk mengusahakan meeting yang tidak bentrok dengan jam kantor untuk keperluan IBB. Juga buat yang berpandangan bahwa saya bukan staff yang baik, saya akui juga karena saya juga sering HARUS diingatin ama temen-temen yang lain untuk "Jangan lupa follow up anu, jangan lupa kirimin anu." Thank you girls yang gak bosen-bosennya menegur dan mengingatkan saya yang keras kepala ini. Dan please, jangan kira kita melakukan ini semua hanya untuk keperluan pribadi. It's all for you girls, all member of IBB.

2. Kualitas foto, dan teman-teman. Terimakasih spesial untuk mba Nita yang kerjanya *mirip dengan saya* *gak boleh sebut merk* hahaha.... saya emang fully aware, kualitas foto, dan teknik foto saya jauh dari sempurna. Dan makasih udah mengingatkan, i will do my best to solve it! PROMISE :)

3.Sedikit saya jelaskan mengenai pekerjaan saya, kerjaan saya di beauty industry juga. Tempat saya bekerja menghandle paling tidak 7 beauty brand. Dan saya bertujuan untuk menganalisa dan mengevaluasi para beauty blogger secara reguler untuk dikirim ke regional, dan bangga banget beberapa hasil kerja saya kalian nikmati loh dalam bentuk gathering, goodybag yang dikirim ke rumah kalian, dll. Saya jarang nongol di event? Lah.. saya yang bergerak dibelakang layar bikin event-nya mbakkk :)

Ada yang pernah dengar istilah sell out blogger?

Dari diskusi hangat yang terjadi di sebuah group rahasia *ceileh* tercetus hal itu. Dan terus terang gue pernah baca artikelnya tapi udah lama. Jadi berkesimpulan mencari tahu apa sih itu? Secara gue kan orangnya kepo cetar membahana menggelegar eym???

Menurut sebuah situs, Sell out blogger itu adalah :

"Good news, kamu banyak duit. Nah bad news, ya gitu deh.. will do anything for free products, and fame, and MONEY."
Nih linknya - kalau kamu as a blogger merasa paling gak 3 diantara 10 tanda-tanda itu bener.. nah gue senyum aja dah! Blogger Sell Out

Apa aja sih?
1. Sebulan bisa review lebih dari 3 kali produk sponsor
2. Semua post kamu itu isinya giveaway, mau ikut giveaway orang atau bikin giveaway sendiri
3. Kepo abis di twitter, tiap twitter brand make up anu di tweet, skin care ini di reply dan bukan untuk nanya.
4. Review produk yang gak akan dipake, misalnya gak suka baju polkadot trus mendadak foto TO (Today's Outfit) pake polkadot
5. Cuma baik, kalo ada maunya. Kayak cuma mau nongol kalo diundang brand yang kira-kira ngasih goodybag buanyaak.
6. YOU POST ABOUT EVERY EVENT YOU GO, nah ini sih emang kadang permintaan dari brand-nya so biarkan moral aja yang berbicara hehe..
7. Kalo abis dikasih produk ama company, langsung berbunga-bunga bilang, "Aduh makasih ya brand XXX i love it soooo much." Padahal denger juga blom pernah.
8. Review kamu positiiiveee semua, kayak ibu-ibu hamil. Karna takut kalo review jelek nanti gak "dipake" lagi ama brand lain.

Gak salah sih, itu masalah persepsi ama integritas. For me, who am i to judge.

Tapi yang bikin agak-agak ganggu sih buatku, ya itu.. ya mosok baru dapet foundation kemaren hari ini udah bisa review. WAK WAW... emang gak kamu pake dulu? Makenya juga udah ditest pake primer, gak pake primer, di ruang ber AC, panas-panasan dkk belum???

Kalo gue sih, setiap kali review produk emang dipake sampe khatam dulu. Banyak yang protes, SO WHAT?

Setiap review gue gue udah rela dulu jelek, eyeliner smudging kemana-mana. Cek deh twitter gue @Beauty_onBudget, ada tuh foto gue pake eyeliner high end brand beleber dan gue ngantor dan gue meeting. Beauty is PAIN emang.. LOL

Etiquette to Attend a Beauty Event

Nice weekend, Hectic Weekdays or the other way around? Anyway I haven't got much time to enjoy "Me Time" lately. Because this is summer time, and everyone, including the beauty company are embracing "summer". Sale everywhere T-T, and beauty event everywhere (love this :D)


The problem is, for now there's only some event that held outside from Jakarta. But i have a good feeling that you all blogger that lived outside Jakarta will experience the beauty event soon.

Nah, now the question begin. Do we really need this? Why should i read this post?
Duuh.. Behaviour, Attitude? Forgot about all that things, that we've been raving about since early of this blog my Fantabulous?

Let me take you to a tour then.. Read This : "Attitude"

But that's just a mild reminder. The main issue here is, how to behave if you're invited to a beauty event?

1. RSVP the Invitation

If you can attend the event, RSVP minimum 2x24 hours before the due date. So they know if you're coming or not. And if you can not attend also let them know, so they have time to fill in your empty chair.

2. Cancellation

If you have to cancelled, please notice them at least 1x24 hours before, and best if you explain why. you can say personal stuff or anything. Respect girls, people already made effort to bring you :)

3. Dress code

If there's no dress code of the event, best to be yourself but in a polite way. As much i hate to admit, first impression is important. Dress to kill for some, or heels to kill for me LOL :p

4. Mingle

Introduce yourself to the hostess and to the other guests. If you came with your friends take you friends and mingle! It's all about building and sustaining a relationship, YES?

5. Enjoy the Party

Enjoy the party, but don't forget your aim there. If you're invited to do a review, or company related you might wanna behave and do your job. And you Fantabulous, BRING YOUR NAME CARD :)

6. Blogger Related

If you are invited to do a review as a fashion or beauty blogger, let them know when you're gonna review. If it's a week make it a week. If it's a month make it a month. If you're not gonna review, tell them, and offer a live tweet instead. Remember, they made effort to invite you. And although you contribute to their company in whatsoever source, best to bring your best behaviour (BYBB).
And always be honest with your review!

7.  Thank you Note After Party

It's a nice touch for the company/ hostess, and shows that you respect them. Won't hurt you to do an email to say thanks right?

Believe it or not, this is something that i experienced myself. I SUPER HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE CANCELED AND NO NITIFICATION on LAST MINUTE! Seriously!!!!

I won't tell why and how, but that bugged me, and i thought i will do a mild reminder or "How to react on an Invitation"
Also it will be nice for the company for not notify us, beauty bloggers ON LAST MINUTE TOO ^^.

Update About My Life

Haven’t blogged for more than one month now. Of course i have excuse for it dear Pretties, in case you’re curious.

Let’s just say i’m having a big fight with my “IdioTech” (Idiot in Technology).

I’m such a dumb dumb when it comes to computer, and the software and the tools. You all know that right? But life apparently have a BIG sense of humour. It humoured me with my current JOB.

Yes, you didn’t read it wrong. I’m officially working ladies now. Battling my super comfort zone, working freelance. Now it’s 9-5, so long my long nap. LOL...

I’m working as Community Manager now, for Netbooster. Googling if you are clueless. With this new range of carreer (we don’t have this carreer section back in 10 years ago, i believe) in social media really open my eyes to a lot of things, how may times you’re whining about no internet connection, shitty phone services, and stuff? It’s important to have someone who customized your need with digital world. For digital world is the new “Doraemon’s Door” now, you can do everything online. Making friends, shopping, meet your soulmate, duuuh...;p

I’m so busy adapting with my new “family and TEAM”, learned so much stuff, analyzing tools, managing a community, transporting number into words. Seriously, i won’t survive if my office mates and my bosses weren’t being so kind assisting me with everything. Thank you guys..

In mean time, how about Indonesian Beauty Blogger (IBB)? Am sure you all read about our first gathering from the rest of blogger.. Yes, i’m lucky to have the job that pays the bills and the job that feed the soul at the same time. Me and the rest of the staff are busy arranging, meeting, and inviting, also reccomending the bloggers to attend beauty event to enrich our experiences so that we can do better on the things that we love, BLOG.

I just have that in mind that there’s so many new bloggers that seems just to follow trend, sometimes don’t event review things in the right way. I’m also still learning, let’s grow together shall we? Keep challenging ourself to do better is important, don’t stuck in your comfort zone. You might get surprised of how far people already ahead of you.

I have reach my short term goal for my life and for IBB. Now working my ass off to think, translate, plan, executing the long term goal.

I am taking baby step, settling everything down. Hope it falls to its pieces soon, can’t do this without you guys keep showering love to me, you know.. so thanks also for my dear Fantabulous that sincerely email me asking how am i doing. That’s one of the things that keep me sane and have strenght to stand still alone in this city you called, Jakarta J

Public Display of Vanity

We heard a lot about Public Display of Affection before, and maybe some of us are comfortable doing that. Hey, no judgement here i personally were a cuddling type of person ^^
In Indonesia, we hold tight on culture and still very religious when it comes to women and men relationship. In fact the society belief that women should stay virgin until they got married. And it's way different method of living and lifestyle with other country beliefs.
We are raised by traditional belief, which respect to elder is a must, and being told the "black and white with no grey area" is quite amusing, with the evolving trends that happens right now.

Why? Because we can get related to the other side of the world very easy now since the internet era. And most of Indonesian consumers type is "western minded" it is so easy to adapt the western tradition as well. Not only from fashion, beauty, etc, but also in lifestyle.

That's is the preview of what i'm gonna rambling on this post.

I AM NOT AGAINST THIS, i just wanna share my thought. Who am i to judge hey? :)

PUBLIC DISPLAY OF VANITY

Vanity (noun)
Defenition : Conceit, egotism
Synonyms : Affectation, airs, arrogance, big-headedness, display, narcissism, pride, self-admitation, self love, self worship, showing off, vainglory.
Acronym : Modesty

Same like Public Diplay of Affection, Public Display of Vanity is the condition when we showing off to people our affection but not with our partner (bf/gf/spouse) but with our vanity section which is make up, or touch up our make up in public.

You see sometimes, mostly at restaurant after eating women touch up their make up even just adding the faded lipstick after eating? Yeah, that's one form of Public Display of Vanity.

Why i brag about this? Because suddenly cross my mind, i read about this several years ago on a magazine, and no one seems like paying attention or may know this term exist.

Is this YEAY or NAY?

My answer is, it depends on the personal taste. As long as we didn't bother anyone while we're doing it, why not? It's not a sin anyway..
Unless, while you're sitting in a full restaurant and you're busy touch up your make up but beside you is people queuing for your table, that's not nice to keep people waiting :)

I'm not the touch up person, i rarely bring my beauty pouch if i'm going out. So this is not a matter for me, even if i bring something that was just lipgloss or lipstick, you won't catch me bring powder etc etc. I'M SIMPLY TOO LAZY hahaha...

If only doing touch up i think still ok, but not doing your whole make up in public (moist.-prime-foundie,blush,eyes,falsies,etc) , unless you're a model or something, go to the public restroom instead or your car maybe? That will give you more space and peace while make up? No?

And you know what? I'M GUILTY AS CHARGE ahahaaha... here's the "busted" picture few month ago on my besties wedding.

And beside of that, you know it's best when you doing your beauty and grooming thingy not infront of your partner dear, how about getting pretty without they have to see us shaving our legs or armpit or simply cutting our nail? LOL....

Report of my Absence

Hola dear ladies, how are you guys doing? Still fantabulous, i believe!!!

Miss blogging so much, and of course FD and FOTD, and hauling T-T
I've been neglecting my blog for months (June and July), and to start again kinda confuse, i think i get behing everybody in everything. But will catch up soon, PROMISE.

So, here's my story (excuse to be exact :p).. Me and my team (The Singers Chamber Choir) got picked to compete in Italy for the Seghizzi 50th, Internazionale Di Canto Corale. It's one of the oldest competition in Europe which make the competition is prestigious and to compete, we must send our vocal sample and the judges gonna audition us. So long story come short, we got picked among of hundreds choir that applied from all over the world to compete there. And beside Iran, we are the only contestant that represent ASIA.

It's not easy, we need like approx. IDR 900.000.000 for this competition and got only 3 month to do the fund raising. Believe me, it's not EASY at all. But Thank God, we made it. And thanks to our sponsor and family we can go and compete there.

The result? PROUD OF THESE AWARDS!!!! Check on it yourself, once again.. Indonesia is known for the beautiful voices not for violation only. proud to sing "Indonesian Anthem" there... One of the best moment in my life.

So the whole trip was, Indonesia - Singapore - Turky - Venice - Gorizzia - Slovenia - Deutch-Wargram - Vienna.

Counterfeiting - Con't

I posted about this here last January, why and how it happened and persuaded you dear ladies not to buy conterfeit item :D
This post is just gonna be addition, why people buying them due to my latest research that happened in Indonesia.

What i'm gonna write is mostly about "knock offs" and make ups today.
Knock off is basically consumer goods that wearable such as, accesorries, clothes, shoes, bags that imitate from the high end brand.

KNOCK OFFS
Why people buying them? Despite of the reason that i already write, apparently there's one major issues that made people in Indonesia buying this knock offs. Before discussing this issues, we might wanna keep in mind that Indonesia is a very big country and many of the people live in small city that doesn't even have a mall, which made original product hard to find. Now on to reasons :

1. Knowledge, most of the moms (middle to lower) don't have enough knowledge on high end product. They don't even know Hermes until Manohara (Indonesian model whom married with Malaysian Prince and end up sue-ing each other due to marital issues) start wearing them a lot on Tv. And they call it "Manohara's Bag". Knowledge is power maybe that's right, and they might only knew Gucci, LV, but other than those brands, they have no ideas that there's Jimmy Choos shoes, Manolo Blahnik Shoes, does EXIST. Can you blame them, of course not. Since local Tv in Indonesia isn't helping at all.. Every single day what we watch is criminal issues, some artist gossips, culinaire, so very educational shows on Tv. 
2. Due to it's geographic, mostly branded items or counter flag store only available in big city such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, most of the area only have mall that has Guess, Nine West, and some departement store like Sogo, Centro and Matahari in it. People wants to keep updated, and it's hard to get the original ones plus expensive if got it shipped to Indonesia and new tax policy not helping at all. So the smart seller they made huge massive production of latest model of this knock offs with cheap price and distribute it to all over Indonesia. And since the shipping cost around Indonesia isn't that expensive and can produce in cheap price and many type (the minimum rate of salary in Indonesia suck, really) because sometimes the seller pay less than minimum price for workers. 
3. For one bag for example, you can get several of price. In Indonesian commonly known as "KW" maybe it stands for "Quality". Quality in Indonesia = Kualitas = KW". They do have KW "super", KW "1", KW "2" and so on. The expensive one is KW "super" and if you want same type, same brand with lower price go for KW"1" instead of KW"super". What the ($%&$(#%&#$(_&(#$.....

As for MAKE UP.

1. Lots of people wants to have high end brand quick and fast, since some of the high end brands is not easy to get, due to geographycal issues also. And many of the latest item not even sold in Indonesia, people get tend to buy fakes.
2. Seller that claims that they sold the products that produced in same company, but will sold to other factory for branding. -I got fooled once, with this. Learned my lesson tho'-
3. Sometimes it's so hard to differ the original ones with the fake ones, especially for brand that don't have counter in Indonesia.

Solidarity for Febri

Hola ladies,
I'm back.. sorry can't give update about the donation yet, because we're still waiting for the alumni's donation also. It'll be from the big family of Maranatha Christian University Choir (from class of 80 something to 2010). And Febri latest update was he got a virus infection on his lung (ARDS complication). Which i don't know the medical status or name for that. And the donation until yesterday is about Rp 2,800,000 from others. I hoped our donation will and can help Febri to get a better medication and cares.

I'm really touched tho' today my blog hits 4000 and more viewers and i got many many positive respon from my fashionesedaily friends and facebook friends which is so heartwarming. And some of them really really beautiful inside out, send Febri a prayer, even give spirit to me, and most of them gives donation. I really hoped someone that got authotization read this or other link about Febri and can do something.

I'll keep posted to update you ladies, and keep praying for Febri...

Ps : Some asked, if i know Febri in person, well.. i don't. And i don't even know anyone from Undip Choir, but i'm really touched, and as a chorister also i'm dying to do something. Because it's not an easy job, going overseas for competiton with minimal funding and resources. The practice was hard, and they win which is bonus and a nice pay off for their effort.. Also made me as an Indonesia citizen proud.
One of the best moment in my life was when singing Indonesia National Anthem while our national flag was raised after winning an international competition. It's a very very touching moment! And i can put myself in Undip's choir shoes what they feel, they are a champion, National Heroes but their project manager was koma in hospital while they're singing the National Anthem... ah, i bet you guys know what i'm talking about. I get really touchy and mellow talking about this..

Start From Yourself, Start Now!

Hey dear ladies,

I brought this news with warmth inside my heart, today has been held a small fund raising for Febri by Maranatha Choir (my choir). I told them his story ( read here for detail), and they're very excited to help. Also decided to do two days of fund raising instead of just one day. Because tomorrow is the last day of practice before they're facing the exams. And some of them were just like me, hearing the news with tears on their eyes.
I'm so proud of my chorister. And did hoped that our prayer and funding will do Febri some good.
God Bless him there... Get well soon, Febri.

Donation for Febriyanto, UNDIP CHOIR Project Manager that hospitalized in Vietnam during Choir Competition

Hallo gorgeous ladies, how many times did we ever ever wish to make the world's a better place for living. Ok, i'm writing this phase with tears on my eyes. I posted a link, about one Indonesian student that got hospitalized in Vietnam after their participation in a Choir Competition there, they won and sadly when Indonesian's Flag was rise and the member proudly sang "Indonesia Raya" - our National Anthem- he has to fought for his life, that time. He only got one family member left, his mom which has no fund at all even to fly to Vietnam.
The rest of the choir member already arrived in Indonesia, but Febri still hospitalized.
This is one of the things that i can do, and i surely hope we can do something about this. If we can't give money, at least we pray and spread the news so maybe other's can help also. From little thing comes the big thing, agree?
PS : they won 4 medals (1 silver, 2 gold, and GRAND PRIX CHAMPION 1st Vientnam International Choir Competition 2011, YAY FOR INDONESIA.. once again, we proved that we are able to do positive thing for Indonesia. Indonesia is a beautful country with beautiful people and talented people, not only can violence and damage.

Beauty Comes from Within

Dear Ladies,

• Did you throw away your garbage to trash bin?
• Did you let people that come out from the elevator first before you enter inside?
• Did you say "please" and "thank you"?
• Did you queue?
• Did you use public restroom properly?
• Did you give your seat to pregnant lady and elder in public transport?

Sounds like little things, but honestly.. have we been doing all of that everyday in our life? Sometime we're in a rush that we have to cut the queue line, or simply forget to say thanks after someone get us something done.. IT's normal, really. No judgement here... only a simple reminder, because i'm still trying to do the RIGHT THING also :)

I think the saying, " Start from youself, Start from Little things, and Start NOW" is really a good reminder for all of us. At least to let us become a better person for ourselves.  Don't try too hard tho' because change can't and impossible to be happen on one day. Take your time and just be a better you.

Why suddenly this post? Because it's not beauty products that make you beautiful, it's Attitude. Are you gonna still look fabulous and stunning with your killer heels, fancy dress, expensive handbags if you cut the line? If you let people queue longer than they should have at the register because you are busy re-arrange the stuff you had in your kate spade wallet and LV's Speedy Bag? I don't think so dear ladies... Simple stuff right? But it defines someone's attitude, remember we're valued by the way we act, and the way we treat our subordinate :)
